CELERBRATION OF THE CIVIL UNION
Measured from the date of the application, the civil union license is valid for not more than 90 days from the date of filing.
The same individuals authorized to legally join two people in marriage are authorized to join two people in civil union.
New Hampshire statute requires that “The persons joined in marriage (or civil union) by a minister or justice of the peace, shall pay the minister or justice of the peace, a minimum of $5.00.
THE CIVIL UNION CERTIFICATE
The authorized officiant completes the civil union license after the ceremony has taken place. The officiant is then required to return the civil union certificate, within six days, to the clerk of the city or town that issued the license. The date the marriage or civil union license is received by the clerk of the city or town is the date recorded on the marriage or civil union certificate as the date of the marriage.
