Juvenile Law

Young people face many challenges in today’s world. If the temptations they face overwhelm they, them may find themselves engaged in criminal matters. If so, they may be arrested and charged as a delinquent. If this happens, there are many decisions a family and the client need to make.
First, the young person will be asked by the charging police department to cooperate with an investigation. Before talking to anyone, call us. After that first police contact, there are more decisions to make, including whether or not to have a trial or make a deal with the prosecutor. We can help you make decisions and can negotiate with the police department.
Another type of juvenile case is called a CHINS case. This stands for Child In Need of Services. These are young people who may have behavior difficulties, trouble getting to, or staying in, school, or are running away. As a last resort, a CHINS Petition can be filed against the juvenile. If a CHINS Petition has been filed against your child or you are considering this option, give us a call.
An arrest for a criminal charge presents a number of challenges to both clients and their families. We understand the challenges that you face. At Courteous Law we will put our experience to work for you by evaluating the circumstances of your individual situation and assisting you with the most effective response to the challenges that you face.
